You must complete the test in one sitting and will have a maximum of 2.5 hours to complete the exam. You cannot save your work and resume the test later. You will receive a confirmation message in your web browser upon successful submission of your exam.
This placement test will help us place you in the appropriate Chinese class at St. George's School in the fall. It MUST be completed on a computer and not a portable device. The test contains three major parts, which are described below:
Part I Multiple Choice Part II Vocabulary and Grammar
In this part of the placement test, you will need to print a written component, then use a pen or pencil when working on the questions in the following sections:
Vocabulary (either character, pinyin with tone or English translation)
Vocabulary (pinyin and tone only)
Make Sentences (must be written in Chinese using characters and must be complete sentences)
Rearrange Sentences and Translate
Translate Sentences (answer in complete sentences)
Reading Comprehension (answer in complete sentences)
Essay (answer in complete sentences)
Part III Speaking
Please make every effort to answer as many questions as possible without the help of any outside resources. You must complete the test in one sitting. You cannot save your work and resume the test later.
You are not expected to be able to answer all the questions, however, giving your best shot is the key!
