2V Reading Unit 7
8 Questions
Jobs, jobs, jobs

Nowadays more and more pupils welcome school holidays as a chance to earn money rather than as a time to laze around and do nothing. Some pupils want to save money for things they normally couldn’t afford. They want a new bike or an expensive discman or make-up or perhaps new clothes after the latest fashion. Other pupils save their earnings so they can go on holiday. And, of course, there are always the spendthrifts, who just don’t care and spend, spend, spend! After all, you only live once!
Pupils can get an endless variety of jobs. Some pupils already have after-school jobs, like stacking supermarket shelves, and they work full-time or part-time during the holidays. Others are after adventure, even if this means they earn less money. Often, such pupils work abroad, for instance, in the United States as summer camp assistants. You’re probably still too young for that. But whatever you do, it isn’t just the money that counts; you have to enjoy it, too!
