Barbados is a sovereign island country situated in the Atlantic Ocean, which just celebrated the 50th anniversary of its independence in 2016. The country earned its independence from the United Kingdom on the 30th of November in 1966, and as of a census in 2010, boasted a population of over 277,000 people. It measures 34 kilometres in length and roughly 23 kilometres in width, and is primarily known for its high climate as it is a popular tourist destination. That said, there is a distinct wet season that runs from June to November, so if you’re planning on a holiday, you may want to go early in the year.
