Top Pulmonary Flashcards

Pulmonary seems like a tough word, but it really isn’t. Pulmonary simply means something involving the lungs. We use our lungs to breathe in and out, obtaining oxygen and other gases from the air and releasing waste gas such as carbon dioxide. Most complex life forms have two lungs that contain many tiny air sacs called alveoli. They expand to hold the air when we inhale, then collapse to conserve space when we exhale.

When we think of lungs we generally think about mammals and other large animals, but did you know that some fish and invertebrates have lungs as well? There’s a lot to know about lungs, how they work, and how things can go wrong with them. Our flashcards can help you to start learning more right away!
