Top Physical Science Flashcards

Physical science is one of the most basic branches of science. It deals with the movement of objects and their physical interactions. At the most simple level, this is the field of mechanics, or how objects interact in space and time. But when you look at smaller and smaller objects like atoms and molecules, you get into the broader fields of physics and, eventually, chemistry. There’s also geology, which is the physical science of how the earth has developed over time. Finally, physical science includes astrophysics, the science of how stars, planets, and galaxies revolve through outer space.

Physical science is distinguished from the life sciences, which cover biology, biochemistry, and all the sciences of living things. But the distinction, as convenient as it might be, isn’t based on any major differences in reality: biology is an especially complicated form of chemistry, and geology and the other physical sciences in turn are affected by the processes of living things. It’s all one universe, covered by a single unified field of science.
