Nullification Crisis
Arose in the early 1830s when leaders of SC advanced the idea that a state did not have to follow a federal law and could in effect, "nullify" the law. Connects with the Tariff of Abominations

In 1837 Cherokees were forced to leave their homes. 4000 Cherokees' die during this. Could have moved them safely, but gov. didn't.Dark moment of American history

Means that cotton dominates the economy of the south. It's the main cash crop
Manifest Destiny
Ordained by God. It was Gods will that Americans march west and expand their land from "sea to shining sea", bringing the brilliance of liberty to them whether they liked it or not.
Nat Turner's Rebellion
A 2-day rebellion that resulted in over 100 black people dying and 60 whites dying on August 21st. Nat Turner, who had taught himself how to read the Bible, believed that God told him that he would be the one to lead the African Americans out of slavery. He avoided capture until October 30th, and was executed along with all who participated in the rebellion.This inspired many more rebellions in the south, and many rights to be taken away from free blacks.

Tariff of Abominations
South hates this because it makes things more expensive. Jackson's vice president, John C. Calhoun, was from the south and starts posting things anon., gets south riled up and decides to nullify this. Calhoun does this behind Jackson's back
Missouri Compromise
Maintained a delicate balance between free and slave states. Important to keep them equal in Senate. Henry Clay comes along and crafts this.From now on if you are above the line of Missouri you are a free state, below and you are a slave state. Line runs across the Louisiana territory.Missouri slave state, Maine free.Slavery is now a question in all new territory
Senca Falls Convention
The first Woman's Rights ConventionThe convention. to take place in five days' time, on July 19 and 20th at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Seneca Falls.Place where Elizabeth Cady Stanton wrote the Declaration of Sentiments that would define the meeting. Taking the Declaration of Independence as a guide she submitted that "all men and women had been created equal" and went on to list eighteen "injuries and usurpations" -the same number of charges leveled against the King of England- "on the part of man toward woman."
