A 2-day rebellion that resulted in over 100 black people dying and 60 whites dying on August 21st. Nat Turner, who had taught himself how to read the Bible, believed that God told him that he would be the one to lead the African Americans out of slavery. He avoided capture until October 30th, and was executed along with all who participated in the rebellion.This inspired many more rebellions in the south, and many rights to be taken away from free blacks.

Taking the Declaration of Independence as a guide she submitted that "all men and women had been created equal" and went on to list eighteen "injuries and usurpations" -the same number of charges leveled against the King of England- "on the part of man toward woman."
