Function of heart
Acts as two pumps in series (right and left sides), connected by two circulations, with each pump equipped with two valves, the function of which is to maintain a one-way flow of blood.
Pulmonary circulation

Systemic circulation
Carries oxygenated blood from the left ventricle throughout the body.
