Its side effects however are also serious: Birth Defects, Induce spontaneous abortions, produces severe psychiatric effects (including depression and suicide), psychosis, suicidal ideation, attempts, and suicide. Thus they placed: - Mandatory registration for all patients, practitioners and pharmacists - Education of all (recipients) practitioners, pharmacists regarding the risk with the drug - A requirement that this drug only be prescribed with severe recalcitrant (stubbornly opposing) nodular acne, which are acne that forms cysts - Only approved when acne is unresponsive to traditional therapy, (antibiotics) and other meds tried first. - Monthly Education for both male and female regarding the need to avoid pregnancy during on the med. - Also must compile a survey to warn all recipients of the side effect of this drug. - Patients will need one on one counseling and patients and parents must signed an informed consent form. - Certification of medical offices and clinics as treatment centers. No internet, phone, or mail order prescription may be filled - 30 day prescription - Also requires women to test negative on a pregnancy test before the prescription is renewed. - Blood test maybe taken during the treatment and 30 days after the treatment - Mandatory monthly reporting of all adverse effects, including death associated with the drug within 15 days. THe new definition changed the basis of its new schedule as a Schedule III by eliminating the requirement to prove muscle growth. It increased the number of anabolic steroids to 59. It also provided the requirement to handle substance as anabolic steroid to include registration, security, labeling and packaging, inventory, record maintenance, prescriptions, disposals, importation and exportation, and criminal liability.

The pharmacy may accept the question prescription as a emergency prescription as long a new prescription that is tamper resistant within 72 hours. A pharmacy may transfer prescription via fax, telephone to anther pharmacy and will not need to confirm the prescription from the physician.
