Hair Texture
The diameter of the individual hair strand and can be classified as coarse, medium or fine.
Hair Density
Measures the number of individual hair strands on 1 square inch of scalp.
Vellus
A.k.a. lanugo is short, fine, and downy hair. It's not pigmented and can be found on forehead, eyelids and bald scalp.
Terminal Hair
Long hair found on the scalp, legs, arms, and bodies of males and females. Coarser than vellus and it's pigmented.
Alopecia Areata
Sudden falling out of hair in round patches or baldness in spots and may occur on the scalp and elsewhere on the body.
Androgenic Alopecia
A result of genetic, age, and hormonal changes that cause miniaturization of terminal hair converting it to vellus hair.
