What was Progressivism?
A political attitude favoring or advocating changes or reform through government action. Progressive movement began in cities with settlement workers and reformers who were interested in helping those facing harsh conditions at home and at work. The reformers spoke out about the need for laws regulating tenement housing and child labor. They also called for better working conditions for women.
What was a Muckraker?
Term applies to newspaper reporters and other writers who pointed out the social problems of the era of big business. Given by Theodore Roosevelt.
What was The Triangle Shirtwaist Company fire?
Fire in 1911 at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York City that killed nearly 150 workers.
What was the Sherman Antitrust Act 1890?
It was the first federal action against monopolies, it was signed into law by Harrison and was extensively used by Theodore Roosevelt for trust-busting.
What was the Clayton Antitrust Act of 1914?
Law passed in 1914 to strengthen federal antitrust enforcement by spelling out business activities that were forbidden. 
Who was Upton Sinclair and what was The Jungle, Pure Food& Drug Act, and Meat Inspection Act? 
socialist muckraker who shocked the nation when he published The Jungle, a novel that revealed gruesome details about the meat packing industry in Chicago. The book was fiction but based on the things Sinclair had seen. Law that authorized the Secretary of Agriculture to order meat inspections  and condemn any meat product found unfit for human consumption.
