How many numbers were in the original set?

The average of a set of numbers reduces from 14 to 11 when the number 35 is removed.

Let there be n numbers in the original set and let the original sum = S => original average, S/n = 14 => S = 14n When 35 is removed, new average, S - 35/ n -1 = 11 => S -35 = 11(n -1) But we have S = 14n, => 14n -35 = 11n -11 => 14n -11n = 35 -11 => 3n = 24 => n = 24/3 = 8
