These locations, in relativity to their geography, were primarily settled based on their naturally available resources including : freshwater, fruits, rich soil, shelter, wild game, streams for fishing, and many other resources.

Since early civilizations were located in river valleys, they provided benefits to many cultures. The river valleys provided the following benefits: provided fish, allowed people to hunt animals as they gathered at the river to drink. As well as providing an excellent source of transportation for both travel and trade.

Being located in river valleys provided many benefits to early civilizations. The rivers gave them a mode of transportation for both travel and trade, as well as providing water for irrigating crops. It also provided fish, and people could hunt the animals that gathered at the river to drink. Floodwater spread silt over the soil, which made the farmland more fertile.
