The correct answer to this question is D, Germany attacked Poland. This is formally known as the Invasion of Poland. The invasion was a month-long. The start of the invasion was on September 1, 1939, and it did not end until October 6, 1939. At the end of the invasion, the Germans and Soviets declared victory.

Along with being the start of World War II, many territory changes happened due to the invasion. One of the many changes is that the Polish territory was divided between the Soviet Union, Slovak state, Germany, and Lithuania. Another change that occurred is that Danzig was annexed.
