The mitral valve is located in the aortic valve or the aorta. It is a flap that allows blood flow smoothly to the different chambers of the heart. But when a person has a mitral stenosis, this flap may become stiff making the blood flow constricted.

When this happens, the passageway of the blood gets narrow and the blood will not flow properly throughout the body. A blood clot may occur as a result of this. And when this happens, it might cause a stroke or other heart diseases. This is usually caused by rheumatic fever thus people avoid visiting places where this is rampant.

Pulmonary

When mitral stenosis is present, the left atrium has difficulty emptying its contents into the left ventricle because there is no valve to prevent back ward flow into the pulmonary vein, the pulmonary circulation is under pressure.
