Democratic republic of congo-bonobos are endemic to the democratic republic of congo (drc), this means that they are not found in any other country in the world. endemic species are difficult to conserve because their survival relies on the laws and actions of just one state. the drc has had a particularly unstable political history and is extremely poor (with the lowest gdp of any country in subsaharan africa) so conservation efforts are often challenging and require a holistic approach to sustainable resource management.
