Your skin has an elastic quality to it. This means that it can easily stretch. Just like a rubber band stretches, so does the skin. A rubber band will stretch and then go back to its original place. The skin does the same. However, there may be times when you pinch your skin, the skin is elevated in between your two fingers.

Then you release it and the skin goes back flat again. If you have skin turgor, the skin will remain elevated after your take your fingers off of it. Whenever an elderly client comes into the hospital, their ailments can be more dangerous due to their age. If a nurse sees skin turgor in an elderly client, this is a natural occurrence for elderly patients.

Inelastic skin turgor is a normal part of aging.

Inelastic skin turgor is a normal part of aging. dehydration not overhydration causes inelastic skin with tenting. Overhydration not dehydration causes the skin to appear edematous and spongy. normal skin turgor is dry and firm.
