Renewables (wind and solar)-the burgeoning renewable energy sector accounts for more jobs in missouri than either the coal industry or the oil and gas industry. • coal: only 23 people were employed in coal mining in missouri in 2010, but if you count those who work in coal-fired power plants, the total is 2,149.• wind and solar: as of 200x, the clean energy industry employed x,000 missourians. and that number continues to surge as we develop our ample sun and wind resources in the state. so not only are clean energy sources like wind and sun good for the health of our citizens and our environment, they’re also good for missouri’s workers and our economy. that’s why mvc is working on policies to expand clean energy in our state.
