This is one of the few equations most people remember after they’re done with school. The equation is “y = mx + b”. Here, “y” stands for the slope, which is what you’re solving for. The idea is that you can take a random equation, and format it into “y = mx + b” to get the slope. So, say you have an equation that reads “5X - 8Y = 6”. The first thing you’d do is subtract the 5X from both sides, making the equation “-8Y = -5X + 6”.

Now, you divide both sides by -8, giving you the equation “Y = 5/8X - 6/8”. Since both the five and the eight are negative, the five-eighths becomes positive. Since only the eight is negative, six-eighths is negative in the final equation.   Reply Search for Google images Select a recommended image
