Nineteen Eighty-Four is a book by George Orwell. Since it was published in the late 1940s, the setting being 1984 is actually meaning the plot takes place in the future. In this book, the population around the world has been killed off due to wars and other problems. The main country, Oceania, rules and there is a large group called the “Party” who goes around and punishes those who try to be anything different than the standard norm.
Winston is the main character or protagonist who considered to be everyone. He has a girlfriend named Julia. O’Brien is another main character who is part of the Party. One thing that Winston does against the Party’s wishes is when he writes last night to the flicks in his forbidden journal.
Winston cannot think of his monologue/story immediatelyonce he starts his diary, he is almost having a brain block. Therefore, Winston decides to write about the previous night, and just begin recording history.
