The flocculation refers to the chemical term about precipitation in a cloud or chemical situation. A basin is similar to the shape of a bowl. If there is a rectangular flocculation basin, then it can be measured. If its measurements include being twenty-four feet long, twelve feet wide and eight feet deep, it will take a certain period to fill up this basin with some form of liquid.

The detention time refers to the amount of time which would be in minutes. Then the water flowing into the bowl can be poured fast or slowly depending on the flow of the water. MGD refers to the measurement of the flow of the liquid, and it is measured in millions of gallons per day. Therefore, it would take 35 minutes for the water to fill at 0.7 MGD.
