It is officially started that the 2nd of September 1945 was the day when the World War II ended. The War started around the 1st of September 1939 which began with the invasion of Poland by Germany. Italy and Japan formed Axis with Germany while United Kingdom, dependent states and France formed allies with Poland. The Germany force surrendered on 8th May 1945 which was about a week after Adolf Hitler committed Suicide.

Japan also proposed surrendered on 15th of August 1945. However, the surrender documents were not signed until the 2nd of September 1945. However, the Documents were signed 2nd September 1845 on the deck of the UDD Missouri. This officially marked the end of World War II.

The official answer is 2nd September 1945, when surrender papers of Japan were signed on the deck of USS Missouri. However, japan proposed surrenderon 15 August1945.

There were two major theatres of war in world war 2, which were-

1>Pacifictheatre (Japan and USA) ended on 8th may 1945

2>European theatre (Great Britain, France, Russiavs Germany, Italy) ended on 2nd September 1945

Your dates seem to be mixed up as well as overlooking the British and Commonwealth forces which also fought in the Pacific theatre.

The second global war or World War II lasted for 6 years and 1 day starting from September 01, 1939 and ended on September 02, 1945. This war formed two opposing groups – the Allies and the Axis, and it was considered as the deadliest conflict in our history because there were more than 85 million casualties throughout World War II. This war started when Nazi Germany invaded Poland on September 01, 1989 and the declarations of war on Germany by the United Kingdom and France.

Germany formed the Axis together with Italy and Japan while the United Kingdom, Poland, France and their dependent states formed the Allies. When the war broke out in the Pacific, the Axis attacked Pearl Harbor, the Philippines, Thailand and Hong Kong. German forces surrendered on April 29, 1945 while Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945.
