Who is correct? Tech A says the light from a welding ARC is very bright and contains high levels of ultraviolet radiation. Tech B says the lenses on tinted sunglasses have heavily tinted glass to reduce the intensity of the light from the welding tip, allowing you to see the task you are performing more clearly.

The answer to this is tech A. It is true that the bright light tends to hurt the eyes because too much ultraviolet rays can be dangerous not only to the eyes but also the other parts of the body. The skin may become affected when it is exposed to too much UV rays.

This is one of the reasons why people develop skin cancer. Using tinted lenses may help in dimming the surroundings so that the task can be viewed better, but this does not mean that the tinted glasses will be able to protect the eyes.
