Born Herb Alpert on March 31, 1935 in Los Angeles, California, he began his professional career as a singer and actor in 1956 when he appeared in the film entitled The Ten Commandments. He then went on to appear in Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation in 1962. He was uncredited on both films and it was then when he decided to pursue a career in music.
It was through music did he become well-known and he became associated with several acts such as The Tijuana Brass, Al Tijuana & His Jewish Brass, The Baja Marimba Band, The Mexicali Brass and the Richard Davis & The Tequila Brass. He won a Grammy Award for Rise (1979) and the album entitled Steppin’ Out (2014).
