It is not common but there are some studies that show food poisoning can lead to hypertension.

Food poisoning cannot cause high blood pressure. While it can cause severe dehydration, there are no known cases of food poisoning that have caused high blood pressure. Food poisoning typically causes you to have diarrhea and vomit a lot. Depending on the strain of bacteria that you get poisoning from, you could also experience a low fever and the pains that come with that: hot flashes, sweats, and just a general feeling of aching everywhere. These are the mild symptoms that typically don’t require doctor’s assistance to cure. Once all the bacteria has run its course, diarrhea might persist for a week before everything goes back to normal.

However, if you’re concerned about symptoms or you have bloody stool, see a doctor. These could be signs of a more serious case of food poisoning.
