Food poisoning symptoms are usually pretty recognizable. They include nausea, cramps in the abdominal, vomiting, and diarrhea. However, there are also some symptoms that mean you need to know when to contact a doctor. More serious side effects of the food poisoning could include being unable to keep liquids down, bloody diarrhea or stool in general (IE it’s black or at least much darker than it should be), and an oral temperature of more than 100.4 for more than two days.

Generally, symptoms of the lower variety will last a few hours, but at most a couple days. If it’s only the first list, you should be okay as long as you don’t get dehydrated. However, at the first signs of some of the more serious symptoms, get a doctor’s number ready to call. If you’re suspicious before the more serious symptoms show up, it never hurts to ask.
