Fast food cups are recyclable if they are made of cardboard, or wholly of plastic. They are not recyclable if the plastic forms one part of the materials used in making the cup. By now, the catering industry has become well aware of the need for food and drink containers to be recyclable and so most are. Look at your cup and it may well be marked 'recyclable', which is a great help for the confused.

Most paper products are recyclable. Lots of recycling centers are established around the country in order to influence people to recycle more. Some communities even provide this service to their citizens. One of the most used materials is paper. At fast food restaurants, some of them use paper cups which make it easier to recycle. However, others use Styrofoam cups.

Styrofoam is more difficult to recycle because it takes a lot of the material to make one cup due to its light weight. Even though fast food restaurants that serve in paper cups make it easier to recycle, very few of the chains offer a place to recycle in their store which defeats the purpose. Most of the cups are thrown in the trash.
