Many companies want to know what people think of their products without feeling pressured to give a positive response when asked by an employee. Instead, they want the people to be honest. The best way to do this is to have a focus group assess your product.

They will not know that the company is watching them. They will also feel comfortable expressing their opinions without being judged with a group of strangers who are not associated with the company. Today, companies use online focus groups to evaluate their products or the ways in which they are marketing their products.

However, there are disadvantages to using an online focus group. The Internet format can restrict respondent’s expressiveness because they may feel like they can’t be as open as if they were sitting with a focus group.
