Baby boomers grew at the time of dramatic social change. They are often associated with the counterculture of the 1960's, the civil rights movements, and the second wave feminist cause of the 1970's. Baby boomers had a tremendous impact on the state of politics surrounding the Vietnam War. Rock and Roll defined their identity.

As a group, the baby boomers were the wealthiest, most active, and physically fit generation. They were the generation that received peak levels of income and increased consumerism. Most define baby boomers as those people who were born between 1946 and 1964.
