Its technically an ART. Not everything is about Hollywood. To be more specific its a collaboration of Artist. From Actors to Make up Artist to writers to ETC... Everyone coming together to make this 1 final art piece. Many may treated as a business, but at its core it starts with the Art.

It's a business -you may learn that filmmaking is an art form. hollywood would never air a movie about a memory you had as a childhood that you filmed because they could care less. they only care if its a) the story is truly shocking, not common and b) viewers will like it and the film will bring the big bucks. thats already not an art form. something thats controlled is not an art form, its a business. another thing? you would never spend a huge amount of money for your hobby - then youd never be able to support yourself. irs is involved. it is a business nowadays unless you have a fabulous trust fund. even so, we saw one of the rich kids veering to the profit direction these days. why? if it is not commercially viable/acceptable it will not get screened. most filmmakers no matter how arty wants to show their work. also, this is a super expensive hobby. locally made film in singapore can cost up to s$ 1 million alone. artform - well thats an indulgence that few can now afford.
