Just like dogs, chocolate is dangerous for cats to consume too. Chocolate has theobromine. This chemical causes the heart to race and it would increase the cat’s heart rate and possibly blood pressure too fast. Since cats and dogs are usually smaller than humans, this chemical would hurt them more than it would a human being. If a cat licks a little bit of chocolate by accident, it probably wouldn’t hurt the animal.

However, cats and dogs are attracted to chocolate just like humans seem to be. So, chocolate should be kept away from them. Eating large quantities of chocolate could kill your cat. Dark chocolate seems to be the worst for cats due to the amount of this chemical it has in it.
