Information social influence happens when a person looks to others to tell them how to behave.

A person is more likely to rely on information social influence when a situation or task is important to them and one of three things happen: 1) a person doesn’t know what to do because the situation is not clear and there are several choices, 2) a person is involved in a crisis and a quick decision needs to be made, and 3) a person chooses to accept the authority of others because they perceive the others are experts.
