Four ways the bible can be interpret incorrectly are by using the allegorical approach-looking to find a hidden meaning beyond the simple statement of the text; the extreme literalism approach-when gods word is taken at such a face value it become ridiculous. (examples: jesus said, i am the vine, (john 15:5) or you are the world the salt (matthew 5:13); other ways the bible can be interpret incorrectly is through the rationalistic and fragmentary approaches which filters each scripture through the grids of our human minds. when we read scriptures and they dont correspond with what we have been taught to believe or what our rational processes tend to indicate; then it is rejected. finally, we should not separate the scriptures into essential and non-essential parts which divide the bible into that which is important and no important. we are not to add or take from the word of god or try to make scriptures fit our way of thinking like the dogmatic approach.
