While many alcoholic drinks tend to have carbohydrates in them, there is only one type of alcohol that is truly carbohydrate free. Ethyl alcohol, including rum, gin, brandy, and whiskey, are the only alcohols that have no carbs. Although the purer forms of alcohol may have lower carbs, they do have a higher amount of calories.

The drink that is highest in carbohydrates are regular beer with the average level of 12 g per 500 milliliters, while some “lite” versions of beers have as little as 3 grams of carbs. While one drink may have lower numbers in one aspect of nutritional value, it will be high in another.
