“A martini is a cocktail make with gin and vermouth, and garnished with an olive or a lemon twist”. The martini has become one of the most recognizable names in the field of mixed alcoholic beverages. There are different types of martinis containing different rations and garnishes including a dry martini and a dirty martini.

The alcohol found in every martini is largely gin, also made with a touch of vermouth. It is unknown when and where the martini was first invented but in 1863, and Italian vermouth maker began marketing their product under the name brand of martini and the brand name is possibly the source of the cocktail’s name.
