Even though many people wish it didn’t, there are calories in alcohol that many don’t even realize they are consuming. Alcoholic drinks can be a large portion of your daily calories, depending on how many drinks you have. With the average American adult coming home and cracking open a beer to unwind from the day, they are averaging 100 extra calories per day.

Varying alcoholic drinks have a different amount of calories per ounce. A 12 ounce glass of beer will have around 150 calories, 5 ounces of red wine has 125 calories and a 1.5 ounce shor of vodka, tequila or whiskey has 100 calories.
