Occupational therapists are tasked with the sole responsibility of addressing individual injuries. Often times, their therapy centers are set up in such a way that they focus more on improving life skills and integrating adaptive tools that are particularly customised by the occupational therapist. Occupational therapists perform daily tasks that include assessment of the home environment as well as the work environment while giving certain recommendations that are made to enhance the quality of life of the individuals.

An occupational therapist also helps to modify the physical environment while training the person who is supposedly the user of such environment to use the equipment specified by the therapist to increase independence.
