In the Bible, King Ben-Hadad realized that Elisha had arrived in Damascus. Ben-Hadad wanted to know if he would be cured of the disease that ailed him. He sent Hazael to ask the Lord. King Ben-Hadad thinks that it is odd that men will be happy and feel blessed by God who are not sick, but they only consult with God when they are sick. For example, the King of Syria did not consult God, but merely kept to himself.
Then when he got sick and weak, he consulted the God of Israel. Elisha realizes that BenHadad’s question was puzzling and it would be difficult to answer because BenHadad only consulted or asked for help when he was in trouble. She wonders where he was when he was well.
