When excesses or deficits of particular neurotransmitters within the brain. The brain is comprised of a complex balance of neurotransmitters that needs to be maintained in order for it to function at its optimum. However, in certain mental disorders, the levels of these neurotransmitters are deranged, leading to drastic consequences. Whether there are excesses or deficits of particular neurotransmitters, they will have an impact.

For instance, it’s the deficit of dopamine neurotransmitter in the brain that leads to Parkinson’s disease. The low levels of serotonin in the brain give rise to anxiety and panic attacks. Hence, one way or the other, the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain play an important role in maintaining optimum mental function.
