Travelling Through the Dark is a poem that involves a dead deer. This famous masterpiece is written by the widely acclaimed poem William E. Stafford. William E. Stafford was born on 17th January 1914. He was born in Hutchinson, and was the oldest children in a very well-educated family. His first main collection of poetry got published when he was of age 46.

Traveling Through the Dark won the National Book Award for Poetry in 1963 and it is considered as one of his best works. It involves the encounter with a dead deer that has been killed on mountain road.
