The one who wrote The Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men was John Steinbeck. Born John Ernst Steinbeck on February 27, 1902 in Salinas, California, he began his professional career as a writer in 1929 when he wrote and published his novel entitled Cup of Gold.

He then went on to write other novels, novella, short stories and nonfiction works such as The Pastures of Heaven in 1932, The Red Pony in 1933, To a God Unknown in 1933, The Long Valley in 1938, Bombs Away: The Story of a Bomber Team in 1942, A Russian Journal in 1948, East of Eden in 1952, Sweet Thursday in 1954, The Winter of Our Discontent in 1961 and America and Americans in 1966.
