What kind of dog does Marty find in Shiloh?

Marty finds a beagle in the book “Shiloh”. For those who haven’t read it, here is your SPOILER ALERT. Stop reading now if you don’t want to know more. The book is about a boy named Marty (duh) that finds a beagle (also duh). The beagle’s name is Shiloh, and he belongs to a neighbor of Marty - a man named Judd. He doesn’t treat his several hunting dogs well, and Marty is understandably nervous about returning the dog. Despite these worries, he does have to return the dog.

Well, that doesn’t stop Shiloh from returning. He likes Marty’s family and would rather stay with them than with Judd. This prompts Marty to take action and hide him from Judd so that he’s safe.
