Albrecht Durerwas a painter, theorist and printmaker from Germany, born in May of 1471. Albrecht Durer created a reputation while he was still young (in his 20’s) because of his quality woodcut prints. Durer had contact with largely famous Italian artists including Leonardo da Vinci which allowed him a gateway to the art world. Durer had many different forms of art including engravings, prints, altarpieces, watercolors, books, portraits and self-portraits.

The more famous work of his is called “St. Jerome in his Study”. This painting was done in 1514, showing St. Jerome deep in work in his study along with a dog, skull, and lion in the foreground.
