Lions are powerful, large felines that are best known for being "the king of the jungle." They are active animals that hunt in coordinated groups and stalk their selected prey. A lion can run up to 52 mph which in kilometers is around 82 kilometers per hour. The maximum pace of a lion is set at 80km per hour.
Lions run at a tempo of 35-40km per hour. Lionesses are quicker at 38-43km per hour. The maximum velocity of the lion is 75 km per hour. The typical pace of walking in both lions and lionesses is 5-6 km per hour. Lions can run up to 80 km in line with an hour, and they can leap as much as 12 meters in a bounce.
Lions are known for having a mane, but they can still run fast. During the day, the lions will walk for a couple of hours and eat for about an hour. The lions usually eat other meat including zebras, buffalo, and wild boar. Even though they can eat larger animals, they still stay away from those that are adults including elephants, hippos and rhinos.
Since the lion weights about 400 to 450 pounds depending on whether the lion is male or female, it can attack violently. In order to capture the prey who will most likely be trying to escape, the lion can run about 80 kilometers per hour. With this speed, the prey will need to find other methods in order to avoid being the lion’s dinner.
