The gestation period of the deer is around 236 days. Gestation is the process of carrying the fawn in the womb. This term actually came from a Latin word, “gestare.” The meaning of this is “to bear.” The fact that the fawn can be carried for a long time means that the doe may only get pregnant once a year.

A doe may be able to produce up to 3 fawns but a lot of them would produce two. Hunters would need to know their prey well. It will not be ideal to hunt a doe that is pregnant. A fawn will not be able to survive without its mothers. It would take a long time before the fawn would be able to do things on its own.
