The Grey Catbird is a member of the mimid family and is named after its very distinguishable cat-like calls. They are easy to distinguish from the mockingbird. Mockingbirds tend to sing their “song” in groups of 4. They are hight pitched and sound as if they are singing a song. The Grey Catbird only vocalizes one at a time and has a lower, raspy sounding call.

The Grey Catbird is not afraid of its predators. They have been known to face their predators, flash their wings, and even go on the offensive and attack with pecks of their beaks.

There are certain areas in the world where the Grey Catbird is becoming less and less common, such as in Bermuda. However, the Grey Catbird, on a world-wide spectrum is thriving and found in plentiful supplies throughout the world.
