Faith in christ, repentance, baptism, and the gift of the holy ghost-faith in christ is the center of the lds doctrine. nobody can be saved without him. additionally, nobody is forced to be saved. when we choose to follow christ, we not only profess that desire orally, but demonstrate our desire through faith, repentance, and by being baptized. when we do these things, were given the gift of the holy ghost (which enlightens us to understand greater truth, guides us to do christs will, and purifies us or refines us). joseph smith, the golden plates, temples, and other aspects of the lds (mormon) faith are all designed to testify of christ and to lead people to be true followers of christ.
