A red panda is typically more reddish-brown and white than red in anything in their coats. Their body is more reddish-brown. The red in their name, however, comes from that red tint to their coats. The white fur is actually on their noses and the insides of their ears. The red panda lives natively in China and the eastern Himalayas.
They are considered to be an endangered species due to the loss of habitat they are experiencing and have experienced in the past as China and the areas where they live are being industrialized at a breakneck speed. They are nocturnal, and typically lie around during the daylight hours. They eat mainly bamboo, like their black and white cousins, but also eat a variety of other things - such as eggs and insects.
