The world has many bays. A bay is surrounded for the most part by countries of land and then it has an opening into an ocean. There is usually a large shoreline around a bay. A gulf is much larger in size than a bay. Sometimes, rivers dump their water into bays. Many ports are set up on the edge of the shoreline that overlooks a bay.
The Bay of Bengal is located next to the Indian Ocean with India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia surrounding this bay. Another famous bay is the Hudson Bay. In this case, the bay is not surrounded by several countries, but only by one, Canada. This bay eventually dumps the water into the Atlantic Ocean and is surrounded by Canada’s provinces or territories.
