The Statue of Liberty is in New York, City. The structure which was given by France to the United States is erected on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, New York City. The height of the copper statue stands 151 feet and 1 inch while the total height of the statue from the ground up to the torch is 305 feet and 1 inch.

The reason why the Statue of Liberty was given by France because Edouard Rene de Laboulaye wanted to honor the achievements of the United States through the abolition of slavery and the country’s victory in the Civil War in 1865. The one who sculpted the Statue of Liberty or what is also known as the Liberty Enlightening the World was Frederic Auguste Bartholdi.
