Alice Springs is in the Northern Territory, NT, of Australia. It’s actually the third largest city in the Northern Territory, and is often referred to as a couple of different names. Locals will call it either “the Alice” or simply “Alice”. The aboriginals in the area have a different name for the area: Maprntwe. This is the name they used for years, and still continue to use, in the area. THe name of Alice Springs was given to the area after the wife of the inventor of the telegraph.
About nine percent of the Northern Territory’s population lives in Alice Springs, a total of 27,972 people. With all of those people come a lot of problems. The population has faced increasing problems with racism and crime because of increasing tensions around the world on the race front.
